Why Groups Exist

Groups are how Socialite works for you without overwhelming you. No one in a group = no reminders. It’s that simple.

Why did we design it this way? Because attention is scarce, and reminders should only go to people who genuinely matter to you. If you want reminders for everyone, you can do that—just create a "catch-all" group with everyone in it. But we won’t default to adding everyone and making noise for people who don’t want it.

Socialite is a system for maintaining meaningful relationships, not a notification generator like Facebook. Your attention is valuable, and we’re here to help you focus it where it counts.

How Groups Work

Add People to a Group:

  Groups let you decide who matters. Once someone is in a group, we generate events for that person based on the reminders you’ve selected for that group (e.g., birthdays, outreach prompts, anniversaries).

One Person, One Group:  

  To keep things simple and organized, each person can belong to only one group. Want custom reminders for just one person? Create a group with only them in it.

Unlimited Flexibility:  

  You can create as many groups as you need. Add everyone or only a select few—the choice is yours.

Why Groups Are Important

Why Doesn’t Socialite Remind Me About Everyone?

It can—but only if you want it to. If you’d like reminders for everyone, simply create a “catch-all” group. However, by default, Socialite doesn’t add everyone automatically because:
